How To Handle Vision Health Care

Your eyesight is vitally important to enjoy what life offers us. Your vision health care should not only include testing your eyesight for vision but equally, and maybe more important, to test you vision for any signs of disease. There are two professionals that can be a part of taking care of your vision.

You may be experiencing vision problems not seeing things clearly that are far away or perhaps those that are close. In this case generally the optometrist will do his magic. He will test your vision using charts and ask you to tell him what you can see and how well you can see it.

Then he puts sample lenses in front of each eye individually and when you have sharp images he gives you a prescription for a pair of glasses or contact lenses. It is important that he also checks your ocular pressure. If there is a problem he will suggest that you make an appointment with an ophthalmologist.

The ophthalmologist is a physician who specialized in eye diseases. There a few eye diseases prevalent in our society. The test for glaucoma is important to the patient. Anyone with diabetes is at greater risk of having eye problems.

In taking care of your eyes and being aware of problems and having them attended to immediately will make a difference in your sight. Wear sunglasses with UV protection. As you are aging, after the age of 65, be aware that you should have your eyesight examined every one to two years.

You may be interested in the new technology that is now available. Laser technology is used to improve vision so people are not required to wear glasses or contact lenses. For operable eye diseases in some cases laser surgery can be done in a fraction of the time with superb results.
